ERIKA MCGINNIS
Erika earned her Bachelor of Fine Art from Boise State University in 1998 with an emphasis in art history. Her work has shown at the National Museum of U.S.A.F. at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, Spacefest X and XI in Tucson, Arizona, Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX, Ames Research Center and the Smithsonian’s 50 Years of Spaceflight exhibition. Currently her work is showing at Lowell Observatory in Arizona in their visitors’ center. She has done many illustrations for books, CD covers, and magazines, such as such as Tales of the Talisman, Forbes Magazine and recently worked as the storyboard artist on astronaut Ron Garan’s new childrens book, Railway to the Moon. She was a featured artist in Professional Artists Magazine about her work combining art with environmental issues about light pollution. Her work was one of 40 chosen to fly aboard a JAXA sprite satellite on a titanium tile.
Erika has instructed art classes for Boise State University’s Extended Studies program, Boise Watershed Project and at the Eagle Art Gallery in Eagle, Idaho. She served as the editor of Pulsar from 2014 – 2021, a journal published for the International Association of Astronomical Artists (www.IAAA.org).
