“I wanted in this image to capture the feel of the more distant gas giants in our solar system – Uranus and Neptune – while still imagining the giant gas worlds of other stars. I try to remember to move away from the often-used butterscotch color palettes seen in Jupiter and Saturn and chose a more ‘alien’ greenish hue for the clouds of this imaginary planet. I also wanted to try to convey the emptiness and loneliness of worlds in the outer solar system here so I chose a somewhat more distant view of the planet and its multiple moons set amidst the backdrop of the Milky Way.” – Dan Durda
