Tom Stafford – Apollo 10 View of Earth Litho 8×10



From NASA Apollo-Soyuz Russian Language instructor-interpreter Anatole Forostenko’s personal collection.

Official NASA lithograph MSCL-57 shows United States and Mexico as photographed from Apollo 10 at 36,000 nautical miles from Earth. The American Southwest and much of Mexico are visible, along with the northern polar cap. Stafford signed & added “To Nelia Merezhko, With Very Best Wishes, Apollo 10” in black. Merezhko was a Soviet support team member for Apollo-Soyuz.

Dr. Forostenko led a Russian language team at NASA’s Astronaut Office to prepare astronauts to communicate with cosmonauts during Apollo-Soyuz, working closely with both crews as instructor-interpreter.
