Project Mercury First Day Postal Cover
$5.00
On February 20, 1962, just after completion of America’s first manned orbital flight, the U.S. Post Office released a previously unannounced 4-cent stamp commemorating John Glenn’s Mercury mission. This first day cover with that stamp was cancelled at Cape Canaveral at 3:30pm, within an hour after splashdown.
The fascinating story of this stamp can be read on collectSPACE.
NOTE: Because we have multiple covers available, condition and postmark location may vary slightly from the example shown here.
