Reflection of Shepard (Cooper’s Mercury Suit)

While studying Gordon Cooper’s Mercury spacesuit in its display case, the artist noticed a poster on the opposite wall showing Alan Shepard in his Mercury helmet. The well-placed reflection of that poster in the display case glass created a symbolic pairing of the first and last Mercury astronauts, with the image of Shepard’s helmeted head juxtaposed just below the collar ring of Cooper’s suit.
Print edition of 15. Signed and numbered.
