ANOTHER STUNNING IMAGE FROM THE JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE!
Planetary nebula NGC 3132, or Southern Ring Nebula, was created by a barely visible star that has ejected at least eight layers of gas and dust over millennia. The bright central star creates turbulence that changes the shape of the rings. Light emanating from the bright star pierces the rings through holes in the nebula, creating hundreds of straight, brightly-lit lines.
