Spectrum of Stardust

Inspired by an amazing image of the famous Helix Nebula, produced by the Hubble Space Telescope, this painting is a depiction of a planetary nebula – a side effect of a old star in the process of dying. In the center of the blue disk is the remnant of the formally majestic stellar denizen, now becoming a white dwarf star. A similar fate awaits our own sun, in a few billion years from now. Hopefully, humanity will have found a new home well before then. Ad astra!
