Dave Scott and the lunar rover near deep Hadley Rille, the winding canyon near the landing site of Apollo 15. Though it appears to ground controllers he is precariously near the edge, the rim of the rille was actually a gentle slope. Scott adds “Hadley Rille, 1971”.
Hadley Rille is thought to be a collapsed lava tube, which once channeled molten lava during the early history of the moon.
