This challenging jigsaw puzzle of Kim Poor’s beautiful art contains 1000 interlocking pieces, and measures 28×20 inches when assembled.
The Whirlpool Galaxy (M-51) in Canes Venatici, near the Big Dipper, is actually an interacting pair of colliding galaxies. Although M-51 is normally seen face-on from Earth, Kim Poor has instead rendered an impossible view, close up, at a shallow angle. The smaller galaxy passed too close to the larger one, and was captured by one of its spiral arms.
