Rhea Seddon – In Flight 8×10

$60.00$280.00

STS-51D mission specialist Rhea Seddon floats next to an echocardiograph machine in the mid-deck area aboard Space Shuttle Discovery during its April 1985 flight. This was Seddon’s first of three space missions. She is a Tennessee native, and received her M.D. degree from University of Tennessee College of Medicine, hence the Tennessee bumper sticker behind her.

In 1978, Seddon was one of the first six women selected for NASA’s Astronaut Corps. She married fellow astronaut Robert “Hoot” Gibson in 1981. Seddon flew three missions aboard the Space Shuttle, totaling 30 days in space. She was a mission specialist on STS-51D in 1985 and on STS-40 in 1991, and was the payload commander on her final flight aboard STS-58 in 1993.
