Jim Lovell – Apollo 13 Launch


The Apollo 13 mission was launched at 2:13 p.m. EST, April 11, 1970 from launch complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center. This was the beginning of the third planned lunar landing mission, that soon became a life-or-death struggle to get the crew safely back to Earth, after their spacecraft became crippled by on onboard explosion during the trip to the Moon. Jim Lovell was the mission’s commander (CDR).
