Dave Scott takes the first lunar rover for a short drive, photographed by moonmate Jim Irwin. Note the navigation charts hanging near the stick with Hadley Rille prominently featured.  Scott was commander of Apollo 15, the first extended lunar mission.  Apollo 15 carried rechargeable backpacks and the first lunar rover.  Moonwalkers Scott and James Irwin climbed the highest elevation reached during the Apollo program.
