Moonwalkers

Used, Signed Alan Bean Brushes

We convinced Alan Bean to sell some of his old brushes rather than sequester them in a coffee can in his studio pantry.

These brushes bear the stains and spots of the lunar master's unusual pallette, and are signed on the shaft.

They are different sizes and colors, and can be framed with a photo of Bean, a mission patch and a unique brass plaque that reads:

"Special tool(s) used by Apollo 12 astronaut Alan L. Bean
to bring mankind to the moon"

(thanks to Gary Johnson of Houston for the idea)

Brushes will vary in size shape, color and price.

We can present these treasures in a deep shadow box mat and frame, deep enough to accommodate the brushes. This is a $500 frame job. The brushes are secured with clear nylon thread sewn to the mat, at indentations in the ferrule (metal) and ends, and also snugged into a gouged bed in the white suede mat, so they aren't going anywhere. A second royal blue suede mat sits 1/2" atop the presentation, and a antique gold aluminum frame surrounds and finishes the piece.
